How one year of volunteering became a path of personal and human growth

One year at “Sunny House”, part of the Maria Family Center, has the power to change a life. For volunteer Iryna Kravchenko, who was there as part of European Solidarity Corps, this time was far more than ordinary volunteering—it became a deeply personal journey filled with dedication, kindness, and genuine human connection.

“It was a time of true inner growth and a place where I discovered what dedication, kindness, responsibility, and the best human qualities truly mean. These values were present both in the staff and in everyone who visited the center.”

Working with people with disabilities – Lessons learned with the heart

Throughout her volunteering year, Iryna learned to see more and to see deeper—to notice the small things, to cherish sincere hugs, warm smiles, and quiet “thank yous” that often say more than words.

Working with people with disabilities opened a world filled with sincerity, trust, and a unique perspective on life. Each individual requires a personal approach, attention to emotions, desires, fears, and small joys—and it is precisely this that turns everyday work into a true mission.
