Get ready! Varna European Youth Capital 2017!

We at Association FOR YOU believe that with participating in mobility programs abroad and non-formal education young people can get a unique opportunity to acquire experience, knowledge, and skills that will help them in their future professional development. In order for a voluntary service to be beneficial for all the participants, the partners in the project and their employees should know how to provide the volunteers with quality support according to their specific needs, their activities, and the country where they do their service.

This is why with this project we aim to support the acquisition of skills and competencies by the young people in terms of their personal development and fitness for work in the labor market. We will help also those who support them to improve their professional skills. Planned activities will raise awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries of the participants and will encourage volunteers to participate actively in society and to develop a sense of European citizenship and identity.

The project will reinforce synergies and transitions between formal and non-formal education, employment and entrepreneurship. Through it will increase the capacity and the international dimension of the partner organizations, so that they are able to offer activities and programs that better meet the needs of youth in and outside Europe.

The project Get ready! Varna European Youth Capital 2017! is an exchange between organizations from France, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Russia and Bulgaria. The project includes 14 foreign youngsters who will participate in a long-term voluntary service in Varna, Bulgaria and 1 young person who will volunteer in Russia. The main themes are art and culture, youth work and work with people in disadvantaged situation. The main methods are learning through teamwork, training in pairs participation in informal trainings, learning by doing, role playing, discussions, presentations, workshops and visits.

Our local partners which will host the foreign volunteers during the project are Alliance Francaise Varna, University of Economics Varna, Foundation SOS - FAmilies at Risk, Association Varna 2017 - European Youth Capital, and Association Alternative Space. Two of the volunteers will become part of the team of Association FOR YOU. Volunteers will participate in leisure activities of people with disabilities, educational activities, activities to promote youth mobility and Erasmus +, organizing events and promoting the activities of the organizations.

Volunteers will gain new knowledge and skills and be supported and stimulated in their personal and professional development. We will raise their sense of anti-discrimination, tolerance and understanding of others, we will encourage them to think about European society and its values,as well as their role as a responsible and active citizens. Those with whom the participants will work and meet will improve their skills to interact with people from different backgrounds, learn about life and culture in other European countries, improve their skills for communication in foreign languages, get to know  how youth abroad have fun and learn, become more tolerant and overcome prejudices.

Thanks to Get ready! Varna EYC 2017! we will increase the number of volunteers in Varna and promote volunteering. People and organizations at least locally will learn about capabilities of international youth activities and the role of Erasmus + in it, which in the long run will open new prospects for cooperation and initiatives in the field and will attract new participants in the programme.

The project will contribute to the development of tolerance and understanding of diversity and positive awareness of other cultures of the society as a whole and will make the young locals (and not only) think about their role in Europe today and tomorrow, and will promote the principles of European policy as a whole. Moreover, we will encourage the inclusion of new ideas and proposals in the current work of organizations and youth work as a whole. Partners at local, national and international level as well as the local community will understand how youth might be involved in initiatives with a social contribution, how active participation of young people and their active citizenship assist in solving the problems of youth, and  will learn about the positive effect of volunteering.

This will create new opportunities for cooperation between organizations in the European Union and beyond and will spread common European goals and objectives in the social field. An enhanced partnership will be created between all the involved organizations, which in the long run will affect the number and quality of their future youth projects and will contribute to improving their capacity.
