Be a Volunteer! Change the World! – Nikola
Our project “Be a volunteer! Change the world!” ends. It was one of the first projects under the European Solidarity Corps program, approved and implemented in Bulgaria. The project involved 12 volunteers from all over Bulgaria and we think it is nice to introduce you to these wonderful young people.
Meet Nikola Georgiev
Nikola joined our volunteer project at its very beginning in the spring of 2019. He also participated in several editions of our Shtak Tuk-Tam youth festivals where he was in charge of the board game area.
Hi! Please introduce yourself – what’s your name, how old are you, where are you from?
My name is Nikola, I’m 26 years old, from Petrich.
Why did you decide to become a volunteer?
I’m a student at the Technical University of Sofia. I decided to become a volunteer in Varna because I wanted to change and enrich my environment. A new completely unknown city, which brought me some new acquaintances. I participated as a volunteer in the Association FOR YOU’s project and the host organization was the University of Economics Varna, at the Department of International relations
What did you learn during the voluntary service?
My voluntary service improved my communication skills in my mother tongue as well as in English, and somewhat in Russian. I had enough time for myself and my hobbies. Also, the events that we organized helped me to improve my teamwork skills.
What is volunteering for you?
A possibility to think about and decide what I want to do in the future and which is the most suitable area for my future development.
What would you say to the people in order to motivate them to become volunteers?
Try! It’s worth it! For me, that was a precious experience and I definitely don’t regret it!
