Representative of Association FOR YOU participates in an International Seminar in Strasbourg on Voting Rights, Civic Inclusion and the Fight Against Discrimination
Between 6 July 2026 and 15 July 2026, a representative of Association FOR YOU participated in the seminar “Voting rights for foreigners in elections as a democratic lever for civic inclusion and the fight against discrimination against minorities”, held in Strasbourg, France. The event was organized by AMSED and co-funded by the European Union.
The programme included non-formal learning methods such as discussions, creative activities, and visits to institutions and sites related to the integration of minorities and the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
The 47 participants from 18 countries met with legal experts, researchers, social workers, staff members of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), and representatives of non-governmental organizations. They shared their knowledge and experience and engaged in in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including human rights, discrimination against ethnic and national minorities, migrants and foreign residents, initiatives for the integration of disadvantaged groups within and outside the European Union, and the challenges faced by minority communities in different countries.
Throughout the seminar, the participants stayed together at Camping de Strasbourg, where, in addition to taking part in a variety of educational activities, they had the opportunity to work in teams, communicate with one another, and exchange personal experiences, perspectives, and ideas related to discrimination, integration, the promotion of human rights, and many other important social issues.
All participants expanded their knowledge of the legal status of foreign nationals and residents both within and outside the European Union, developed their skills in designing and presenting projects aimed at the integration of minority groups, and learned about cultures and countries they would otherwise have had little opportunity to experience.
The seminar also resulted in the establishment of numerous long-term contacts and ideas for future cooperation between the participants and the organizations they represent.
The representative of Association FOR YOU enhanced their knowledge of international and European law, project planning and implementation, introduced the other participants to Bulgarian culture, and, in turn, gained valuable insights into the lifestyles, cultures, and traditions of countries across Europe and beyond.
